Interesting Finds
This week I’ve been particularly slacking on this blog. However I did get to talk to the guys over at Linux Cranks. Throughout the week I found some interesting stuff on the web. Most of its Linux or tech related so if you’re interested …
One of the first things I’d like to talk about actually came from informationweek believe it or not:Google’s Data Center Really this post from them was just a round up of what was found on Google’s blog post about their data centers HERE I read the big G’s post and have to say that it was very interesting. Hopefully this will not get people thinking that cloud computing is a good idea, just because some of Google’s data centers happen to be saving electricity.
The next thing I found was actually a piece of software. More specifically a plugin for Firefox that makes it behave like vim. The software looked very interesting and I can’t wait to try it out. It reminded me somewhat of Ubiquity, without the eye candy and backing of some big names. Here’s the URL for it, Vimperator: http://vimperator.mozdev.org/
Now on the same topic of vim, I also found a GPL’d plugin for vim that combines the power of Eclipse with vim. It’s called eclim and I also have not tried this yet but want to give it a shot. If it works, then I might consider installing it permanently since I’m always editing stuff remotely in emergency situations. http://eclim.sourceforge.net/
